If you are interested in living around South Boise and/or Meridian, you should look into homes in the South Valley area. These areas differ from one another somewhat, but all have their merits.
Southwest Boise has a few sparsely populated neighborhoods that were built between the 1960s and 1980s. Though growth was stunted to prevent urban sprawl in the 1980s, this has since been lifted, and there is now more widespread growth of neighborhoods and homes. Southwest Boise is close to the airport, shopping centers, theaters, and Interstate 84. The World Center for Birds of Prey is fun to visit for both children and adults.
Off of Southwest Boise is Meridian. There are many options here for people looking to buy homes as well, in addition to many amenities. There is Roaring Springs, which is a major water park that is located near the Meridian I-84 exit. There is also The Village at Meridian, for those who enjoy shopping; at this outdoor shopping mall, people can enjoy a fitness center, a movie theater, restaurants, retail stores, an arcade and bowling rink, and an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter. Those who enjoy arts and culture will likely also appreciate the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
Southeast Boise also has a lot to offer. It has somewhat of a fancy and affluent atmosphere, while still managing to be down-to-earth. There is a wide mixture of homes, including both mansions and starter homes. Here, people have access to great restaurants, grocery stores, and sites such as the Idaho Botanical Gardens. Southeast Boise encompasses the area between Micron Technology and Boise State University. The area just south of the university is older, while the remainder of Southeast Boise was put together in the past 30 years and is full of suburban style homes. The first major planned communities here were Columbia Village and Oregon Trail Heights, and these homes are within walking distance of the middle and elementary schools in the area. Southeast Boise is also conveniently located at the intersections of Idaho 21, Federal Way, and Interstate 84, so that people can easily and quickly travel to other areas of Boise.
All of South Valley has something to offer and is a great place to call home.
